I was in two minds about reading Strain, you've convinced me it's not worth the bother. Let the Right One In is my reading list though. Mainly though, i'd like to try and challenge your notion of zombies as not human and just killing machines. Yes, that's all they do, but that is not what they are about. Zombies represent our own mortality, in that world that is what we'll become. More importantly, zombies are us, they are human, they were you friend, lover, partner, parent, child. It really doesn't matter what they become, it doesn't stop them representing what they were. Sadly zombies are rarely used as much more the killing machines and canon fodder.
